The Theology List assumes that participants agree with the following doctrinal statement:

1. the authority and inerrancy of Scripture
2. the Trinity
3. the full deity and humanity of Christ
4. the spiritual lostness of the human race
5. the substitutionary atonement and bodily resurrection of Christ
6. justification by grace through faith alone
7. the physical return of Christ

Discussion by those who do not hold to these doctrinal points is allowed only so long as it benefits the orthodox evangelical members of the list. In other words, non-evangelicals are welcome, but the discussion of topics outside of the doctrinal statement is only permitted up to a point.
