Read the updates on Jerry. Return to Peoria Update |
Hi All, Jerry's heparin was discontinued last night and he was switched to Lovenox, which is given by injection twice a day. He can be discharged taking that, or they may change him to a blood thinner in pill form. His leg looks some better, but still swollen. His GI doctor said he could be discharged, but his primary physician was concerned that his hemoglobin is low (8.8) and that he might be bleeding so he wants to keep him until they figure out what is going on. Tests of 3 stools today found no blood there. His billiruben (measurement of jaundice) was down to 6 and he is much less yellow. Dave is concerned that several of the tests indicate liver damage, but we are hopeful that relief of pressure by having the stent in to drain the bile will improve his liver function. He is feeling more perky. Enjoyed visiting with Dave and Julie and the grandchildren. We walked the length of the halls and back several times today. He is stronger and more sure on his feet than on Friday. Dave and Julie left Sat afternoon to go back to Manitowoc. Dave is planning to come back for the week end next Friday and Steve is coming Thursday and going back Wednesday. Nickie is in Chicago for a violin concert by one of Cory's kids. She was planning to go home Monday, but instead is coming here. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Love, Colleen/Mom |
