BRIEF OUTLINE:

(medival or renaissance European type setting)

guy (possibly a mercenary) receives message that wife is ill & 
wants to go to her

he and companions fallen upon by ?.  All except guy are killed

guy has nothing, steals horse from nearby inn to get home to see wife

horse belonged to powerful noble, noble puts out bounty

guy captured by one of noble’s men, but captor doesn’t kill him 
because noble wants to do it himself.  captor finds guy to be 
honerable, kinda respects him, but still has responsibility 
to his lord.

guy escapes in transit to noble

thinks about wife all the way home

gets home, but wife, Sarah Morrian, and newborn daughter gone

father never saw daughter or knew her name

|  various adventures and occurrences while on the run, during 
|  which time noble dies, but somehow bounty remains

guy meets and falls in love with a young woman knowing nothing of her past

marries, still ignorant of each other’s past

festivities interrupted by man out to capture “the honerable 
thief”, having found records of the deed and the bounty.

guy taken and hanged in the courtyard of the deceased noble’s 
castle at the command of his son

young widow joins convent, and is asked what her mother’s name 
was.  her answer is Sarah Morrian
