General Aims

Information Processing and Technology deals with the ways in which information is gathered, structured, represented, stored, accessed, manipulated and communicated. Because it involves the examination of information processing problems and seeking solutions students acquire knowledge and apply it. They must be able to analyse, synthesise, evaluate and communicate effectively.

Information Processing and Technology is a complex intellectual discipline that deals with information systems, algorithms and programming, artificial intelligence, computer systems and the social and ethical issues relating to information technology. Its emphasis is software development rather than the use of application packages.
