This was the first time that these two teams from Rome met this season and it was a close fought match, A match with the largest attendance ever in the INSL recorded here at 52,000 all seated. In the end Lazio's offense proved too much for Roma and they began to crack before Protti ended it with a quick shot from just outside the box.

In the match Juventus proved too powerful for the venezian club who were thrashed by juve fowards Del Piero and Salas. Both Del Piero and Salas combined for 3 goals out of just 3 shots between the two. Over to Venezia, the only scorer was Maniero who put one in the top of the net early in the match. Bologna managed to pull off the win from a lucky Corner kick header late in the game by Marocchi. Althought Bari keeper, Nietti, was brilliant again for this match, he had no chance of saving Marocchi's header and the match for that reason. On another note, Despite taking 3 shots Ukrainian striker Shevchenko failed to score even once gainst Antonioli. Bologna have improved to 1-0-1 while Bari end their unbeaten streak of one game and now have a record of 1-0-1 as well.

At Renato Curi stadium today defence prevailed. This match was the lowest scoring in the history of the INSL. The only goal coming from Perugian striker Rapajc early in the match. Udinese did have several chances, 5 shots in all, but were utterly beaten by keepers Mazzantini and later subbed in, Roccati. 4 of these stops were spectacular highlight saves made by Roccati against threats such as Amoroso and Mijatovic. Another packed stadium full of fans wanting to see the two Giants, Fiorentina and AC Milan, battle it out. Fiorentina had depended on their midfield too much for such a small number of players and Milan took advantage early in the game taking a 2-0 lead before the 2nd half. However Fiorentina soon came back with 2 quick goals and put freight into Milan fans and coaches, but soon enought Milan took back controll of the match and added a further 2 goals to end it 4-2.

Before an almost sell out crowd, Piacenza drew to the "Mighty" Perugian team 1-1. Perugia, who were surprisingly 2-0-0 this season almost lost to Piacenza before Japanese Striker, Nakata, Broke through the defence and scored late in the match. Another big match in Rome this week, Inter Milan (1-0-0)  v.s Lazio (2-0-0). Inter Milan took the lead early with goals from Simeone and Ronaldo in the first half. In the second half Sousa added to Inter lead with another goal making it 3-0. However Lazio's key striker, Vieri, scored before the matche's end to give the fans in rome something to cheer at. Vieri has now reached the position as top scorer in the league.
