- During Mr. Stephens' several appearances
on my program, he has generally spoken eloquently and with clear substance
of knowledge about the STS program and other intriguing issues. Certainly,
some of his statements have been factually and technically innaccurate;
however, it appears, at this point in time, that Robert Stephens may be
anything but a fool.
-
- His 'confession' now posted on my website
which praises various people reads as a contrived, mocking, and sarcastic
piece designed to neatly remove him from the UFOlogy venue. It fits the
profile of a classic 'extraction' operation: Mr. Stephens completed whatever
it was he came to do...and has now gone.
-
- There is much more to Robert Stephens
than we now know. Research has demonstrated who he is NOT...but just who
and what IS he?
-
- To further underscore this analysis,
we received the following outstanding post from Sue Kovios via Errol Bruce-Knapp's
excellent "UFO Updates - Toronto" list this morning:

began to do a more thorough investigation into his background. I emailed
some of the contacts he said he had at NASA. One of them, declared a "buddy"
by Mr. Stephens, wrote back saying, "I have never met or talked to
Robert Stephens to my knowledge, and I have no idea if he is a Space Shuttle
contractor as stated in his e-mail." He then went on to say, "I
was simply responding to his e-mail in the spirit of public mail to NASA,
and am a bit chagrined that he has termed me his "buddy" and
that he posted my e-mail to him to the Web without asking me if he could
do so." This NASA spokesperson asked that I do not forward or post
his mail without permission - I am awaiting his permission.

- I then went after the SEAL Team-3 claim.
There are many sites on the internet hosted by former Navy SEALs which
enjoy exposing those who make such false claims. Here is a list:

-
- Well, I've done searching myself <g.
Some of this sounds too coincidental.
-
- I started with: http://www.geeksquad.com/agents/66bio.htm
(Dossier on Robert Stephens)
-
- Over a three year period, he rose to
become head engineer of the lab while earning scholarships from the U.S.
Navy and the FAA for research into virtual reality and construction of
a computer-based flight and driving simulator. It was also during this
time he started a computer consulting business. In April 1994, after three
years at the University, he formed Geek Squad, Inc. with $200. Now four
years old, The Geek Squad is a 24-hour on-site rapid-response computer
task force with eighteen Special Agents. The Geek Squad has over 3500 clients,
including 3M, General Mills, IBM, Cargill, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner
Bros, and The Rolling Stones. Now 29, Robert lives in Minneapolis.
-
-
- Look at the other titles of the 'Special
Agents' and their portfolios.
-
- And...I checked out: http://www.geeksquad.com/aboutus.htm
-
- Special Agents
-
- Sacrificing any normal social life, Special
Agents are the highly trained specialists that are on-call for you 24-hours
a day, seven days a week. Modeled after such elite groups such as the Navy
SEALS, NASA, and the Secret Service, Special Agents are skilled in crisis
management, rapid problem solving, and adaptability. They operate successfully
in hostile environments. When you're in trouble, these are the people you
need on your side.
-
- I checked out: http://www.artic.edu/saic/ats/courses.html
which are numerous courses in the Arts & Technology field Mr. Stephens
and others may have taken (including holography and 3-D animation)
-
- I think these 'Geeks' have been toying
with the ufological community. Stand at attention guys. What do you think?
Perhaps they've been 'contracted' by NASA and the Navy SEALS on a computer-consulting
basis. Perhaps that's why no one wants to comment.

- Stephens was being sarcastic. Sarcastic
confession, get it? It's pretty funny when you think of it that way, haha.
A guy named Stephens does have artwork on the NASA site. So is that him
or not? Should we take his lies seriously or not? Perhaps it's not even
important what Stephens said, but our reaction to him and what he said
that is the real information here.

- Dear Jeff:
-
- I think Mr. Stephens may have decided
that the UFO/internet community is not worth fooling with and he has said
"Thats it! I am outta here!" His posting was too tongue in cheek
to have been real.
-
- Who is he, or better, who WAS he? I do
not know but he is not the buffoon that he made himself out to be in that
final posting. He portrayed himself as a person who lied about EVERYTHING
and I don't think anyone could BS that well. The way that he was treated
by ART and RCH... and then he describes them like they are brilliant? We
know better...it just doesn't make sense to me.
-
- OK. I am the most gullible person in
the world, I admit...but I am not buying this one. What do you think?

I emailed you earlier about him, stating that I thought he was a refreshing
addition to the show. I have to admit though, I really did enjoy him!

-
- Now that we have reached the likely end of the Robert
Stephens phenomenon, let us add in a few final tidbits to insure that no
one here is ever quite sure what or who he really was.
-
- First stop, www.borderlands.com, where we can thank Michael
Theroux for pointing out first that Mr. Stephens has an official association
of some sort with NASA at least as an artist at:
-
- http://www.nasa.gov/hqpao/library.html/arts/samples.html
-
- So, one can safely conclude that Mr. Stephens's statement
to Jeff Rense that "All proofs of my insidious lies from any type
of involvement with NASA, the military, the art program information, my
resume, artwork, art collections, numbers assessment, my work of any kind
thus claimed is categorical lies in every fashion." is indeed a CATEGORICAL
LIE since the artwork is indeed genuine.
-
- Now I know you guys have already seen this part, but
now if one checks out the macintosh-related links on this page, one will
obtain one of Mr. Stephens's email IDs, robert@digisys.net, an ID which
gave me a strange sense of Deja Vu.
-
- Next stop, www.dejanews.com where a keyword search on
robert@digisys.net turns up some very interesting stuff from 1996!
-
- Try http://x4.dejanews.com/getdoc.xp?AN=188428431&CONTEXT=915562946.

-
- wherein Mr. Stephens claims both prior UFO experience
and membership in SEAL Team 3 (and this post stuck in my memory enough
to trigger the above Deja Vu, weird).
-
- or http://x4.dejanews.com/getdoc.xp?AN=185612418&CONTEXT=915563677.
455475401&hitnum=7
-
- wherein Mr. Stephens claims to be a NASA contractor and
debunks MJ-12 a little based on its writing style.
-
- Have a wonderfully paranoid day, guys!
