My formal name is the Rev. Gerald H. Slusser, Ph.D. To my friends I’m known as Gerry. My qualifications for this writing? Most important is the fact that I have been studying and practicing the contemplative/meditative way and its foundations in the World’s religions for about a quarter of a century. My formal training includes two degrees in Theology, a doctorate in Educational Psychology and Philosophy, plus post-doctoral studies in Theology and in Pastoral Counseling. Professionally I have been seven years an airline pilot, seven years a pastor of Presbyterian Churches, and a professor in theological seminaries for twenty-four years. I’m now retired, continuing my ministry through teaching, but now more through writing for spiritual retreats with the San Diego Center for Spirituality.
