THE INDWELLING
The next chapter in the Left Behind series is the potential (Placed 8th on the Amazon.com potential bestsellers) bestseller - The Indwelling. Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins return to write another episode in the popular "Left Behind" series. This book comes out May 2000 and the demand for it will be huge. What does the title - "The Indwelling" mean? In Assassins, Nicolae Carpathia who is the Antichrist was shot and apparently died in Jerusalem. The Bible itself predicts that the coming ruler (the Antichrist) will die from a specific head wound to the head. Revelation 13:3 says, "One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed." The key verse is that the fatal wound was healed so when he was healed and raised up by the False Prophet. The Bible says:
Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose FATAL WOUND HAD BEEN HEALED. (Revelation 13:11-13)
And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast who was WOUNDED BY THE SWORD AND YET LIVED. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. (Revelation 13:15)
He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18)
These verses (11-18) is going to be the essence of the new novel. Nicolae Carpathia was wounded and died. But in this book, he will rise from the dead to imitate Christ. That is the Antichrist's job to imitate the true Messiah - Jesus Christ. Before he died at the hands of the assassin - he was sweet, lovable, and a popular figure. But when the Antichrist resurrects from the dead - he'll be a totally different person in that he'll be like the Devil. In fact he'll be the DEVIL INCARNATE. Satan will go into his body (like he did to Judas when he denied Christ) and will perform the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION. That is what THE INDWELLING means that SATAN WILL INDWELL IN THE ANTICHRIST that is Nicolae. Indwell means to "reside within as an inner force." So the Satan would reside within the Antichrist and be the inner force to make the Antichrist perform the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION and go back on his covenant with Israel and start killing all the Jews and Christians (those that were LEFT BEHIND that became Christians as the result of their convictions).
The ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION (Daniel 9:27) is when the Antichrist will go into the rebuilt temple that Israel made as a result of his covenant with Israel and proclaim himself the to be the MOST HIGH GOD. This would desecrate the temple and leave many Jews angry but also some deceived. It will deceive the whole world by making them take his mark - 666. There the statue of the Antichrist will probably be put in the HOLY OF HOLIES. This is the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION.
In summary, (I haven't read the book yet) THE INDWELLING will be about that Nicolae will be resurrected and will be "indwelled" by Satan. He will perform the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION and Fortunado (False Prophet) will direct all worship to Nicolae. They will institute a system where no one can buy or sell without having the mark of the beast - 666. Chloe's underground trading of food and supplies will be put into place so that Christians will be helped and that they will get food and supplies. They will have to be careful though. Tsion Ben Judah will continue to reach the masses by his lessons from the internet. There will probably be the seventh judgment and the start of the SEVEN VIAL JUDGMENTS. Here are a few questions that I hope will be answered in the new book. Will Rayford be caught in spite of the fact that he killed Nicolae by accident? Will they continue to pursue Buck? Will Chaim become a believer? Will Hattie become a believer?
