P.S.A.T. and S.A.T. Information for JHS Band Members
The S.A.T. will be given on October 9, 1999 and November 6, 1999. It will also be given in December, but November is the last date to take the test to qualify for the STAR Student program. Since November 6 is the date of the Waycross contest, marching band members who wish to take the S.A.T. prior to December should sign up for the October date. The JHS Band also has two performances on October 9: the Fall Festival Parade and the Sandy Creek marching competition. Students taking the S.A.T. will be excused from the Fall Festival performance if necessary (the time of the parade has not been announced yet). Since the test is given at several nearby locations, including Griffin H.S., Salem H.S., and Fayette Co. H.S., students should be able to take this test and be back in Jackson in plenty of time to ride to the Sandy Creek contest with the band. The deadline for registration for this testing date is September 14. Mrs. Garland has recommended that any band members wishing to test on this date go ahead and register this week so you have a better chance of getting your preferred test location.
The P.S.A.T. will be given to JHS tenth graders on Saturday, October 16. This is the date of the Sprayberry contest. We have dealt with this in the past, and it will cause us no problem. You will be able to take the P.S.A.T. before the band leaves. We anticipate a late-afternoon performance time, and will not have to leave Jackson early enough for your testing time to overlap with our travel time.
