The Smile Of Pain

The moon shines amongst the stars...
I lay on my bed
and wish,
wish that I never open my eyes again.

Sometimes I cannot sleep,
my eyes look around;
the darkness that eats me,
the fear that haunts me.

My tremblings hands
wish to do no wrong,
but when they do
they are punished hard for doing wrong.

Things the eye sees,
but cannot bear,
things the mind learns
that are so unfair.

And so I try to fall asleep,
to dream cause dreams can heal.
But I wish that I could just fall asleep,
and let sleep, my life steal.
