Vans are one of the best selling shoes in the U.S. Vans were first made in the 1960's by a man named Van Doren. He worked in a shoe factory and wanted to start selling shoes directly to the public. In 1966 he opened the first van store in Anehiem, Los Angeles. He offered three different kinds of vans that were sold rapidly in the first year. Van Doren opened a new store almost every week. This was when he started to make different designs.
