This Montreal duo has already hit No. 1 in Canada with its latest single, "Love Song," which is furiously climbing Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart now in the U.S.
James Renault and Antoine Sicotte, both 26, met during a music production/songwriting class at the Musique Technique School and began working together in 1992. It must've been written in the stars. The music that Renault and Sicotte make is full of deep-seeded R&B and pop grooves, immersed in an instrumental paradise.
By writing all the lyrics and arranging all the music, Sky's rhythms are free-flowing and intoxicating, and its lyrics are loose and catchy. The guys shine on "Push," "America," "You and I" and "Shave."
The two also make good use of the assistance of producers Peter Mokran (Michael Jackson, Maxwell) and the Berman Brothers (Real McCoy, She Moves) of Euro-Syndicate Productions.
"Dreamin' " and "Strange" (with tantalizing and seductive lyrics such as "You say it isn't your style just to ride the flow/But if you'd like a little something and you've tried alone/Here's a first-class ticket/I know you're into strange") are two tracks on this disc with the strength and quality to become Sky's next big hits.
