Where friends get together to gain respect for others around us and to learn more about the world in which we live!
The purpose of education is to promote the development of the whole child including social, emotional, physical, and academic growth. The teacher must lay a foundation for life-long learning and enable each student to become a responsible and participating citizen of our society.
Education should take place in an environment in which children learn by doing, where risk taking and experiencing new aspects in life is encouraged. The teacher must encourage the development of self worth, self motivation, cooperation, critical thinking, and decision making in each child. The environment in which children learn should provide positive reinforcement and feedback.
Each child must feel respected and valued as a worth while individual. In order for each individual to feel this, the learning environment must feel physically comfortable and secure. To ensure this type of environment, the teacher must give support to the child to attempt to explore new experiences. The teacher must clearly define the rules and is always fair and consistent when carrying out school and classroom rules.
Most important,
the teacher must understand the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive
development of each child and design activities that encourage and
facilitate complete growth to the whole child in learning!
