What can I do if I think my child is using drugs?
It is important to
-Support your child
-Educate your child on the uses of drugs and the laws that relate to drug use
-Don't panic - this may be an experimental stage only
-Sort out where you stand in relation to drug use and misuse
Take action to keep your child safe and healthy
Set clear boundaries about drugs and drug use with your family
-Make it quite clear that you will not accept drug misuse
-Try to understand, or hear each others point of view so that you do not create a barrier between yourself and your child
-Think about your own use of drugs and model appropriate use
-Seek help if you have a problem with drugs yourself
-Get to know the parents of your child's friends
-Seek early help and advice for your child if you suspect a problem
-Share your problems or concerns with an appropriate support group.
