Q: What is a girl in God's eyes?

A: First of all, a girl (or boy, for that matter) starts out as a blessing from the beginning. A gift from God, no matter what other extenuating circumstances accompany her arrival into this world. The Psalmist writes under divine inspiration: "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children (girls and boys) a reward from Him." - Psalm 127:3)

Additionally, a girl -- or anyone else -- is by nature sinful, someone who falls into the category of those of whom God's holy Word states, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." -Romans 3:23) Therefore in God's eyes, a girl is someone His righteousness and justice cannot accept.

BUT, as that same passage goes on to announce: "all have sinned ... and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." -Romans 3:24). A girl, any girl, every girl, is someone so precious in the eyes of God that He has come down into human history, taken on human flesh, perfectly fulfilled the perfect life a righteous God demands of each of us, and suffered and died to pay for her every sin to reconcile her to her God and offer her every blessing of His eternal kingdom. (2 Corinthians 5:19,21 - "God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ ... God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.")

So in God's eyes, a girl is a precious soul, ransomed by Jesus her Savior. She is someone God wants to bring into His family by the faith He gives through the good news of His Gospel. In that family of believers, God tells us, "There is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)"
