Meetings are few and called only when required for a specific purpose.
The duties are rather comprehensive in scope and a team of two ladies are responsible for a month at a time to see that they are accomplished. The procedures are established, but flexible, and include cleaning the chancel area (about the altar), preparing Communion, making ready the chancel for weddings, baptisms and funerals, maintaining altar linens and paraments, and collateral duties. A manual is published as an aid for each member.
Each new member is trained for her first month by the chairman and is not required to "solo" until she feels confident.
If you would like to learn more of the Guild's activities, please speak to any member or call the current altar guild chairman.
