"We travel not for trafficking alone By the hotter winds our fiery hearts are fanned For the lust of knowing what should not be known We take the golden road to Samarkand" -James Elroy Flecker Note- Samarkand is a really cool city in Uzbekistan |

Belgium: seven times. I have seen Brussels, Brugge, Dinant, and Tournai. My mom was a flight attendant for Sabena Luxembourg: A cool little nation, and part of my ancestry. The city is nice but there is not much to do Greece/Turkey: I was nine, we saw everything and I actually remember it pretty well but would like to go back someday. Mexico: My parents sponsor a student at Colonio Vicente Guerrero in Baja California. I went there a few times growing up Canada: Family trip to Banff. I liked the town of Canmore. I also saw Toronto when I went to see Darcy. A big city, cleaner than American ones The Dominican Republic: Last February my dad an I went on a work team with our church to build an addition to a school. It was a good experience with a good group of people but I would have gotten a lot more out of it if I had gone alone Bosnia-Herzegovina: A quick four day jaunt last summer with my mom. It was really interesting being in a place where the holiday inn is deserted and everything is crawling with military and there is rarely a building not covered in shelling. Most of the fighting is over but we still saw a landmine go off and heard a machine gun pulse (my mom somehow thought the war had ended ten years ago:) ). My mom wanted to see Medugorje, the most Catholic place on earth where they abhorred the national currency because we bought it five miles away in a Moslem town. France(Monaco also): Eigth grade summer trip to see Paris and Provence. Click here* for a photo album Random Memories: -Popcorn under my bed at the hotel Ambassador- the toilet unattached to the floor- Chilis Babyback Ribs performance in nice- Rebecca, our benevolent yet underappreciated guide- Club Matt- LOOSE- the alleged egyptian porn- the bra snatching magicians of Avignon- flour filled balloons- the gypsy boy (Vas-ton!)- MADAME!!!!(and the divide by five rule)- Amy's inflatable chest-Stephanie, the cool chaperone and her counterpart Brooke, evil bitch from hell- Couscous!- Climbing Eiffel tower by stairs (a harrowing experience) and not being able to go to the top because of lack of time- the saga brought about by my passport- Always somehow ending up with Laurie- the Galleries Lafayette saga- Pouring rain in Monaco-the waiter destined to become president- Free the Way! Then... spent first semester of my junior year in Manosque. And then i also went with my mom on a trip to Strasbourg. neat city *yet again, from Amy's page Italy: Wnt with my mom on a trip to Rome but the whole family went so it wasnt too much fun. I saw a lot of the city on my own though Vatican City: First country i have visited independently. I spent about 15 minutes there, on a walk when my parents were asleep Sweden: Went with my mom on a trip to Stockholm. Really beautiful city Germany: Saw stuttgart. It was ok- i really liked nearby Ludwigsburg Spain: Spent night in Madrid and saw Toledo. Good, but i have seen all i really need to there Switzerland: Went to Zurich with my mom. It was nice but things were very bureaucratic Leichtenstein: Second place I have been to on my own. Vaduz is quaint. No need to spend a lot of time here, but it is something to check off my list Uruguay: Our family trip for spring break 2000. It was really nice. I wish I grew up in Montevideo. Its beautiful, the people are very warm, and the city has the feel of less pretentious (and much cheaper) version of Europe. Cute guys too. Japan: I just saw Tokyo and Narita. It was a lot different than I expected- a lot more modern (less exotic) but it was really cool. I would love to live there Israel: Jerusalem was deserted since all the tourists have been scared away. It was interesting to see all the biblical sights. Tel Aviv was interesting because it had such stark contrasts- some parts were modern and could have been in any European city, but places like the Yemenite quarter could have been in any middle eastern bazaar. |
