It's Not Mine!

A man bought a house to live in.  In the process of repairing and renovating his new home, the man uncovered a wooden chest.  He opened it and was amazed to find it filled with gold and jewels!

Quickly, the man closed the treasure chest, picked it up, and took it to the man who had sold him the house.  "Oh, my brother," said the man while setting the heavy box at the other man's feet, "take this! I found it under the house you sold to me." Seeing that the man was bewildered, he added, "It's yours! I bought your house, not your gold!"

The house-seller regained his composure and answered, "No, my brother. Indeed, I sold you the house and everything that came with it, too."  Each man tried to convince the other that the treasure was not rightfully his own until they finally decided to take the matter to the judge.

When the judge heard their story he was impressed with the piety and humility of the men.  The judge then asked if either of them had children.  One man replied that he had a daughter and the other replied that he had a son. "Then marry the young man to the young woman," declared the judge, "and spend the money on them."

The End
