The dark is gone,
And the constellations;
But no sun, not yet.
It's only light.
A thick white comforter covers the lake.
The quiet time.
Water sighing over the spillway is constant,
Amplified in the dawn's rich air.
Sipping coffee alone outside
Is different.
A spectator for a change - watching - feeling- hearing.
Listen -
An oar plays the side of a boat,
A cardinal calls the morning.
The chilly air
Finds its way through to the skin,
Shiver, and sip some more.
These few minutes are part of the span
Like the rest.
The mist is rising.
A fish tests the surface.
Circles linger.
