To create a new document, start MS Word. If you are already in MS Word, click on
File, New.
To insert the date, click Insert, Date and Time, click the format you want, then click
OK
To set line spacing to double, place the cursor where the double spacing will begin,
click Format, Paragraph, Indents and Spacing, Line Spacing, then click the spacing you
want.
To turn on the automatic numbering, click on Format, click Bullets and Numbering,
click Numbered, click on the style you want, then click OK.
To use the Thesaurus, select the word (using the mouse) you want to look up. Click Tools, Language, Thesaurus. Click the desired meaning. Click Look up to
list synonyms. Select the desired synonym. Click Replace.
To print your document, click File, Print, OK.
To save your document a first time, click File, Save, (click Save In to select a drive or
folder, select the folder or drive), double-click File Name text box, type a filename, then
click Save. *After the first time you only have to click File, Save to save the newest
version of your document.
To close your document, click File, Close. Click Yes to save changes (the latest
version), or click No to abandon changes to the document.
To type underlined text, place the cursor where the underlining will begin, click on the
underline button (U), then type the underlined text. Click on the underline button again
to stop the underlining.
To remove underlines, highlight the underlined text and click the underline button.
To select a font size, place the cursor where you want the font size to begin. Click
Format, Font, Font tab, choose Size, click or type the size you want, then click OK.
To type a bold font, place the cursor where you want the bold font to begin. Click the
bold button (B). Type the text. Click the bold button again to stop the bold feature.
