Was born on Sept., 2, 1958 in Leningrad (now St.-Petersburg), RUSSIA.
Father - Dubatolov, Viktor Nikolaevich, ScDr, Prof., Paleontologist, Stratigraphist.
Mother - Dubatolova, Yuliya Afanasievna, PhD, Paleontologist, Stratigraphist.

Graduated from Department of Natural Sciences, Novosibirsk State Univesity in 1980. Diploma work: "Quantative analysis of the suture line of Ammonoidea in evolution" (in Russian).

From 1980: a member of the stuff of  Zoological Museum of Biological Institute, Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now - Siberian Zoological Museum, Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), Novosibirsk.
1980-1982 - graduated student;
1982-1992 - junior researcher;
1992-1993 - researcher;
1993-2000 - senior researcher;
2000- now - leading researcher.

Curator of the dry entomological collection in Siberian Zoological Museum, Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology, SB RAS, Frunze street, 11, Novosibirsk, 630091, RUSSIA. Main curator of Lepidoptera (excluding Geometridae); Orthopteroidea, including Plecoptera; Neuropteroidea, Mecoptera, Hymenoptera (Vespoidea), Trichoptera, Ephemeroptera.

PhD thesis: "Butterflies (Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea) of the mountains of Turkmenistan".
Defended in 1993 in the Biological Institute (now - Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology), Novosibirsk.

Fields of scientific interest: systematics and faunistics, faunogenesis and biogeography of the Palearctic Arctiinae, Papilionoidea (Insecta, Lepidoptera), Russian Hesperioidea, Geometroidea (excluding Geometridae), Bombycoidea, Sphingoidea, Noctuoidea; faunistics of Siberian Tortricidae, Ethmiidae, some other Microlepidoptera; in the Museum also work with some other Insecta: Neuropteroidea, Plecoptera, Vespoidea (Hymenoptera).
Particular interest: Eurasian Lepidoptera range formation in Holocene and Pleistocene.

In recent years collaborate with Dr. O.E. Kosterin, Institute of Cytology & Genetics of Siberian Branch of Russ. Acad. Sci., Novosibirsk, whose nice site with numerous pictures of Lepidoptera, flowers and landscapes can be found here.
