BIENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL 1999 REUNION UPDATE

The 1999 Bienville High All-School Reunion was held on October 30 & 31, 1999.
  • On Friday night, the alumni attended the Bienville High School basketball tournament. The alumni donned their custom-designed reunion t-shirts and cheered the Lady Bobcats and Bobcats to victories over Saline and Marion.
  • On Saturday, October 30, 1999, the alumni reminisced over a spaghetti dinner at the American Legion Hall in Arcadia. Sharon Murphy donated a cake decorated with a blue and gold bobcat. Following dinner, the group held a masquerade ball. The costume contest ended in a tie between "Dracula" and "Broom Hilda". Shirley Davis Jackson came as Dracula and Mary Davis Hill came as a witch. The class of 1979 won special recognition for having the greatest percentage of reunion participation. The class of 1975 was recognized for having the most participants (thanks to Raymond Calep showing up at the last minute to push his class over the top). Marcie Brice Boston received an honorary bobcat certificate for her contribution to this reunion.
  • On Sunday, October 31, 1999, the alumni attended worship services at the Shiloh Baptist Church. BHS alumnus Evangelist Barbara Calloway Davis – From Bondage to Freedom Outreach Ministries, Bossier City – brought a spirit-filled message to the group. A memorial service honoring our deceased school mates was also held during the worship services. During the memorial service, a member of each of the deceased family lit a candle in honor of their loved one.
  • A special tribute was read to Mr. Willie Blow and a certificate recognizing his contribution to the Bienville community was given. We were somewhat disappointed that we did not get any participation from any of the current or former teachers and administrators of Bienville High School. But true to form, Mr. Blow did not let us down. He was in attendance at all of the reunion-sponsored activities. On Sunday, he juggled three previously-scheduled appointments in order to attend the worship services.
  • Reunion 2000 has been announced to commence on Labor Day weekend 2000. Volunteers are needed to organize this event. Please contact one of the current committee members if you'd like to volunteer. COME ON BOBCATS—GET INVOLVED! IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO?
