Notes

1) Sarah talked about her old pace – 220+ acres, 10+ room house, but needs lots of work: no plumbing or coded electricity. Treehouse, pond, barns, etc. (Haunted?) ~$100/mo. rent? Check with next of kin. Bernadette talked about Cyndi’s place – 4-room house ~$600-700/mo. (plus 3 smaller houses?) Cyndi is litigation over this property. May be settled Monday. Both properties are near Blue Heron farm. Aaron and Carol will check out Steve Erickson’s friend’s building next Thursday evening (5/7). Lots of outbuildings. Harvey’s: Space considered is not on his proper farm.

2) Meeting location: Silk Road’s group policy for meetings is ~$3.00 per person. We  need to change the meeting location. Potential places: Carol’s, Circle Park, OWASA Conference room, Carrboro Park’s sheltered picnic areas, Public Library conference rooms, Chapel Hill Town Hall, Foster’s Coffee House. We will meet at Carol’s next week and decide another location after that.

3) Name – discussed concerns over name of CSIL, but they were minor.

4) Yard sale – should we have proceeds go towards buying Sudbury Valley’s books? Aaron desires one of their books be considered “required reading” for students and parents, especially those who are prospective.

5) Policy Guide – Still need to write section for Board of Trustees. Next week after the meeting, we will have a brief discussion of current outline. Starting new “Policy Guide Discussion Group” for those interested on Wednesdays from 8-9 after the Board meeting.

6) Funding – Brief discussion.

7) Class Times – see attached schedule.

Locations Tour – plan a visit of prospective farms some Saturday.
