That Sunday morning, there was a blizzard in the air.  The snow was so thick that it was difficult to see.  At 4:00 a.m., there was virtually no one out on the roads.  There was no one home at our house.  In all reality, our home could easily have burnt to the ground.
It just so happened that there were two volunteer firemen in the area plowing driveways because of the snow storm.  One of these men had his window cracked.  He smelled what he KNEW was not a woodstove, but a house fire.  He drove back and forth down the street until he discovered our home on fire.  He immediately called his friend who was also in the area and happened to be our fire chief's nephew.  The fire department was notified immediately as these two men broke into our home to be sure no one was there...asleep.
The men came to our bedroom first and discovered our bed made.  This was confirmation to them that no one was home.  Because of the storm, our fire chief called in 4 local fire departments.  In no time, there were many people there working to put out the fire.  What a blessing for our family that they were able to contain the fire to just one section of our home.  These 2 men were in the right place at the right time...for me, confirmation that God's hand was right there!
If there was still a doubt, however, that doubt was eliminated the next day as I read the article in our local paper about the fire.  The very last paragraph was a quote from the fire chief.  It read..."Everything was just right.  It was a successful fire stop."  Those two words...just right...were for me the icing on the cake.  God was with us, and all was well. For me, there was no doubt.
It will take 3-5 months before we will again be in our house.  We are living in a mobile home in our driveway.  Although the conditions are crowded, at least we are together and at home. I will be updating these webpages with the progress as the months go on.  Be sure to check back in.
