Bratinas are the oldest Russian drinking vessels. The Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad) museum possesses the rarest examples of those dating back to the middle and second half of the sixteenth century. The bratina presented here was made by the masters of the Trinity St. Sergius Monastery and belonged to it's cellarer, Yevstafy Golovkin. The Kovsh belonged to Princess Kilikiya Ushataya, and is decorated with a sententious inscription engraved along the rim.
