PLACES I LIKE TO VISIT
There are some places I really like to visit in the state, so I am going to tell you about them on these pages in case you are looking for good places to visit while you are here.
GIFT SHOPS
Of course I have to start off with my mother's gift shop Clam Factory Gifts.
It is located in an old clam factory and everything is made by my parents and I.

RESTAURANTS
One of my very favorites is Richards on Main Street in Brunswick. 207-729-9673
Richards specializes in German food, (Richard is from Germany), but also has American cuisine, and an excellent wine list.
The restaurant is small with a cozy atmosphere, and Richard usually comes out to talk to his guests.
I like it well enough so that even though it is far enough away to have to spend the night when we go, we usually make several excursions a year just to eat at Richards.
Logos Pub and Grill on Main Street in Belfast is a place we just discovered. 207-338-0300
It is located in an interestingly restored building which was built in 1850.
The atmosphere here is also small and cozy with several smaller rooms rather than one large one. One is called the library and contains old law books which they found in the basement when they were restoring the building.
The food is excellent and different with such items as Butternut Squash Soup and Mandarin Duck Salad. There is also more traditional fare.
The really high point of my meal was the homemade Key Lime Pie, which was more like a Key Lime Pudding. It was served in a large custard cup and contained only a little graham cracker crust in the bottom. It was the best Key Lime Pie I have ever eaten.
Now we make several trips a month to Belfast just to eat at Logos.
Then there is Marcel's at the Samoset Resort in Rockland.
Once you try their Sunday Champaigne Brunch, you'll never be satisfied with another buffet again!

ACCOMODATIONS
The Chalet Moosehead Motel is probably my favorite place of all. I would love to spend every summer weekend there, swimming, kayaking and just lying on the beaches and relaxing. Check out their website to see why I like it so well. (I built the website, and it is the first one I have done for a real business)! I will put some pictures on of the Moosehead Lake area soon
The Inn on the Harbor in Stonington is a wonderful place to relax. They are located directly over the water with a view of Stonington Harbor and the islands from most of their rooms, and their several decks. The rooms are named for the windjammers which constantly sail by in the summer. We rented the "Heritage" for our guests, and it was a wonderful experience for them. The room is located on the second floor, and has a working fireplace built from local granite, a queen-sized bed, a sitting area with comfortable over-stuffed furniture, a full-sized bath, and a semi-private second floor deck outside.

The Comfort Inn in Belfast is a great place to spend the weekend, even if you never leave the hotel.
All of the Rooms have a private balcony with a view of the ocean. There is a private beach and an indoor pool. I can't wait to go there again!
And of course there is The Samoset Resort, which is one of my very favorite places to spend the weekend. Click on the link to see their website, and if you go, don't forget to walk the breakwater to the lighthouse!
BOAT TRIPS
One of the most interesting boat trips I have ever taken was the mailboat to Monhegan Island.
