  • Where God Looks
    1Sam 16:1-14
    Three individuals whose lives intersect: Samuel, Saul, and David.

    Samuel was a prophet and he had the privilege of hearing God's voice. He anointed Saul to be the first king of Israel.

  • He grieved over Saul and that God had rejected Saul;
  • He was afraid of Saul;
  • He misjudged Eliab and overlooked David

    It is impossible to study the life of David without studying the life of Saul

    Saul - a declining leader
    Saul's life was a slippery slope. In 1Sam 13:5-13 waiting for Samuel he did the wrong thing to do the right thing and this was/had been his pattern of living.

    David - a developing leader
    His genealogy
    His residence
    His consecration
    1Sam 13:14 a man after Gods own heart
