  • Romans 14 & 15

One of the principles that we are taught throughout scripture is to not cause a weaker brother to stumble. If a weaker brother is stumbling because of the type of car I drive or the company I work for should I change the car or job? -- 1Cor 8:13

Who has the greater responsibility throughout this passage? The "stronger", and particularly in regard to "the faith".

Eliminate the thought that there are no absolutes and you will rule out sin. These chapters are not about no boundaries.

There are both explicit and implicit commands and statements

  • explicit -- you must do this
  • implicit -- we must do this or let us do that

Rom 14:16 Do not put rights against/above responsibility

Gal 6:1-2 is a parallel to Romans

Rom 14:5 Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Rom 14:22 You cannot force your convictions on someone else.

Rom 14:23 eternal judgment because personal conviction was Compromised and thus it is sin.
