Page 3. Central and South America at war:
The areas of Central and South America contain 20 nations with a total population of approximately 392,500,022 (est. July 2002).
Central and South America were conquered or otherwise colonized by the nations of Spain, Portugal, France, Netherlands and the UK. Most of the colonies achieved independence by war between 1806 and 1826.
Settled by the French in 1604, French Guiana was the site of notorious penal settlements until 1951. The local government is still a department of the French national government.
The 20 nations of Central and South America have been involved in 103 wars or conflicts since 1950. Some of these are still on-going.

Why Wars?: The Primary Factor
"From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not.
You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts." (James 4:1-3) KJV."Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? " (Jas. 4:1) NKJV.
