Hey! Wanna See Some Sin?
"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet and show my people their transgressions and . . . their sins." Isa. 58:1
22.Lies
"Error, indeed, is never set forth in its naked deformity, lest, being thus exposed, it should at once be detected. But it is craftily decked out in an attractive dress, so as, by its outward form, to make it appear to the inexperienced (ridiculous as the expression may seem) more true than truth itself." -- Irenaeus
22.8b. Page 2: The biggest lies.
(As always, Caveat Emptor. Some lie by claiming that the truth is a hoax.)Historical lying:
Today's politics becomes history tomorrow. As history books are updated it becomes convenient to rewrite history in order to validate the author's current politics. Rebellion becomes a struggle for freedom. Sedition becomes patriotism. Black and white become interchangeable. Evil is painted in shades of gray. Historical journalism is taught in the Schools of Arts rather than in Schools of Sciences. Political Science is an oxymoron, unless the hypothesis is that people are predictably stupid. Okay, maybe it is a science after all.
"The past was erased. The erasure was forgotten. The lie became truth." -- George Orwell, "1984"
