The Song of Moses
Just some thoughts: (hopefully, some just thoughts ;-)
After Israel had crossed the Red Sea and witnessed the annihilation of Pharoah and his army, they performed a song, under the direction of Moses who was also the composer. This "special music" was accompanied on the tambourines by Miriam and the other women of Israel. Ex. 15:1,20-21.
What does music, particularly hymns and psalms, accomplish?
Quite a lot, according to other scriptures.
*It refreshes and drives away evil spirits. 1 Sam.16:16,23. We all have to "wrestle" with evil spirits to some extent. Eph.6:12.
*It fills the House of the Eternal with glory. 2 Chrn.5:13-14. Today, we are the temple, 1 Cor.3:16- 17,6:19-20, 2 Cor.6:16. (A lot more could be said on this one).
*It brings defeat to the enemy. 2 Chrn.20:21-22. Satan is our enemy. Mat. 13:39. The last enemy will be death. 1 Cor.15-56.
*It brings men to the Eternal. Psa.40:1-3, Isa.12:2-6, Acts 16:25-33.
*It is a manifestation of joy or an outlet for joy. Ezra 3:11-13. "..out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (or sings)Mat.12:34-35.
*It raises one's spirits or increases his joy. Eph.5:18-19.
*It teaches or admonishes in the Word. Col 3:16.
*It accompanied the sacrifices as a form of worship. 2 Chr.29:27-30. Today we sacrifice a broken spirit and a contrite heart. Psa.51:14-17.
We recommend looking up all these scriptures. It seems there's a lot more to singing, than just trying to make a joyful noise.
Since Moses's song was picked up by 2 or 3 millions fans, he was the first to qualify for a Gold Record award. Considering the Bible is still the world's best selling book and that the Song of Moses was apparently the first recorded lyrics in all history, we would have to put it at the top of the charts as a Golden Oldie. :-)The Song of Moses, a "solid gold" hit!
