Course Description and Goals: This course clarifies the role of training and development in Human Resource Management. Students will be given an opportunity to plan and execute a training program including needs assessment, evaluating trainee learning style, costing, considering delivery alternatives, motivating trainees, and evaluation. Readings from a variety of HR and training journals will introduce students to current trends in training. |

COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the completion of this course, students will be able |

to differentiate between training, and development, and recognize the roles these activities play in Human Resource Management |
2. |
to explain the importance of accommodating different learning and teaching styles in training programs |
3. |
to be able to explain the relationship between age and the learning process in adult trainees |
4. |
to recognize the importance of needs assessment to the training process |
5. |
to be able to produce a training plan with clear goals and specific learning outcomes |
6. |
to be able to utilize a variety of training methodologies; Job Instructional Training, In-basket Exercises, Case Studies, Experiential Exercises |

to differentiate between summative and formative evaluation, and explain the importance of each to the training process |

to devise a pre-test and a summative evaluation procedure for an actual training session |
