Flower Gardens

(A Reflection of I Corinthians 13)

A Poem by Laurence David Sterling III

There was something holy in the act of tending a flower garden. Planting flowers is an act of faith that teaches us patience for beauty not yet revealed, and for joy just now imagined Cultivating flowers is a work of hope that teaches us that only by risking failure, can we find true success, and that only by putting our faith into action is there a possibility of something more beautiful than we now know. Picking flowers is a revelation of love, in which we are shown that it is only in pouring ourselves out that we find our true purpose. Love and flowers are for giving, with notes too personal to read out loud. Flower gardens are some of God's most marvelous symbols of Faith, Hope and Love.
