God Song

(Reflection on Mark 4:35-41)

A Poem by Laurence David Sterling III

Out of my despair I cried out. My anguished sigh was heard above the tempest that surrounded me. God heard my prayer and lifted me from the sinking ship of my self-reliance. God pulled me up into Holy arms and sang to me a love song. The words that surrounded me were so sweet and so full of love that, for a moment, each note, each phrase, scampered and danced merrily about in joyous praise of the All-Mighty before slipping gently down to cover me in a warm security blanket close to Mama's heart cradled in Papa's arms. Back and forth the melody went, sweeping me to heights of joy and rushing me to peace beyond any I had ever known. True peace, pure love, unbounded joy. One moment I was sinking in despair, the next I was snapped into the peace be still. Unloved to Beloved. Typhoon to Tranquility. Cacophony to Theophany
