MENTOR

A Poem by Laurence David Sterling III

Leading where the parade may not be going Following directions not yet written Speaking words for days not yet come Silent to why the course is best or worst Seeing beyond mountains too high to climb Blinded to the ways too simply taken Hearing the sounds of songs not yet composed Deaf to the calls for caution and uncertainty Tasting the joy of helping others Fasting from pompousness The mentor plies the ancient trade of helping those in search of aid
