I was watching the film "Children of Paradise" the other day, and one of the characters (Garance) says twice in the film "Love is so simple". I was thinking that this is probably where Dylan got the line, "Love is so simple, to quote a phrase", since he had mentioned the film to Sam Shephard around the time of Renaldo and Clara. Also, one of the characters says something about putting your eyes in your pockets, but that may have been a coincidence. Anyway, I just thought it was interesting.
