Felicity Blindshooter (East Kingdom):
Last year a certain young (as in 15-year-old) fellow received a well-deserved AoA, and I got to do the scroll for him. He cornered me after Court, to thank me. He actually got all teary-eyed over that scroll. A short while later, a letter arrived by way of Canada Post. He continued his thank-yous in writing, and made it very clear how much the award, and that scroll, meant to him. I will treasure that letter always.
Eibhlin (AEthelmearc):
I have been fortunate enough to receive several thank you notes. All of them are priceless to me. But there is one recipient who has told me on several occasions that when she wonders if all of the effort she has put into the SCA is worth it...she thinks of the day she received her AoA and all of the hard work that went into making that day special. From the Prince and Princess who thought enough of her to bestow the award, the scroll that I took the time to make for her, the set up we devised to get her to the event...in general, all of the work others spent to make her day unforgettable...it all comes back in a flood of warm fuzzies when she looks at the scroll hanging on her wall. That's thanks enough for me. :-)
