THE
GREAT
APOSTASY
That never happened...
Most Protestant Churches teach
that the Catholic Church of today, is NOT the Church which Jesus Christ
founded. They say it apostatized at about the time of Constantine, when
he signed the 'Edict of Milan' in 313. They further teach that it stayed
that way for over 1200 years until about 1521 when the reformation was
started by Martin Luther. He, in his infinite wisdom, saved the Church
which Jesus Christ founded, and it became the Lutheran...no, the Baptist...no,
the Methodist...no, oh well, one of those 28,000 protestant churches out
there. They ALL claim THEIRS is the true church, which is impossible if
not ridiculous.
I had a conversation with some
of them awhile back, and I asked, 'And what was Jesus Christ doing all
those 1200 years with an apostate Church'? Of course all I got was each
of them looking at each of the others, with hope in their eyes that one
would come up with a palatable answer. I asked, 'Did He 'zig' this way
and 'zag' that way until He created Luther, and then did He 'zig-zag' back
and forth until He at last found the 'true church' again? I was greeted
with a unanimous,
'YES'!
Of course that
whole conversation was ridiculous. Protestants take great pride in telling
everyone how true to the Bible they are and how they do not believe anything
if they cannot find it in that one book. That brings me to the purpose
of this file.
Okay, you say the Church apostatized at the time of Constantine.
Apostasy means, 'Abandonment of one's religious faith'.
So if the Church Apostatized as some say, then everything the Church did
during that period was not of GOD but of the evil one, right? So from 313
until Luther came along, the evil one was in the drivers seat, right?
In 397, some 84 years after the Milan Edict, and well within the 1200 year
time frame, the Church did a profound thing. It held a council at
Carthage.
During this council the 'Apostate' Church
(as some say), made a decision and published the canon of both the old
and new testaments. What this means is that every Bible, which ALL Christians
use, came originally from this council. If you are a Christian...this means
YOUR Bible.
If you believe the Catholic Church
apostatized in 313, then the very Bible you quote from so often did not
come from GOD, did it? It couldn't have, as GOD turns His back on apostates.
It had to come from the evil one, so how can you say the Church apostatized
and at the same time quote from an evil Bible???
