Music for the Masses...

Well, they say you can tell a lot about a person by the kind of music they listen to. Most of the people I've met, when entering a person's house for the first time, migrate quickly towards the stereo and the subsequent CD collection. (Does anyone else remember the days of VINYL?? Yeesh.) So, judging by the stuff I listen to, I'm either "eclectic" or "unique" or "a complete loser " when it comes to musical stylings. Take your pick, your opinion really doesn't affect me. Nyah. Poke yer fun, have your laughs...

Music that's moving me at the moment...

This is just a list of songs that I enjoy listening to right now...don't know that they especially mean anything, except I usually won't switch the stations if they come on. (Which, by the way, is a miracle. My friends think I'm the worst channel surfer they've ever seen. I'm SORRY ... things BORE me sometimes. Die Mariah Carey Die.)

Me by Paula Cole

Talkin' bout a Revolution by Tracy Chapman

Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf

Money Talks by AC/DC I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick

In My Life by The Beatles

Faceless by County A local L.A. band. Check 'em out.

Hey! Wait a minute! Those songs aren't "current" songs! Well, you're right. Most of the songs that are getting radio play right now are steaming piles of horse puckey. I've resorted to a neverending stream of CDs to keep tunes bouncing around my car and brain. Oh well, we do what we must....

Music that ALWAYS moves me...

This is the stuff that I will listen to at any time of the day or night, and have been listening to for years on end. Maybe I'm a putz, maybe it dates me, maybe it causes you to thumb yer kultured and alterna-grunge-goth-trance-house nose at me. I don't care...music is music, and whatever moves you is cool.

Most anything by the Eagles but especially Take it easy, Desperado, and Lyin' Eyes

Most stuff by Nine Inch Nails, but absolutely the entire Pretty Hate Machine album

The entire Sparkle and Fade album by Everclear

Moondance, Crazy Love, and Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison

Somebody by Depeche Mode, as well as everything ELSE they've ever done (yes, all the way back to when Vince Clarke was part of the group)

Speaking of Vince Clarke, Erasure is on this list, without a doubt. Um...favorite songs by them? How about You Surround Me, Victim of Love, and, um, Chorus

Say Goodbye by Dave Matthews Band

Hands to Heaven by Breathe

No Room by The Samples (especially Did you ever look so Nice)

All of Marc Cohn's work, but especially Miles Away, Dig Down Deep, and True Companion

Somewhere in My Broken Heart by Billy Dean

All These Years by Sawyer Brown

I'm So Happy, I Can't Stop Crying by Sting

I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick

American Pie by Don McLean

Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding

Billy Joel. Period. Scattering of favorites by him: She's Always a Woman, Piano Man, She's Got a Way, Keepin' the Faith

Eric Clapton. Period. Couldn't even BEGIN to make a list of favorites, 'cause it'd be too long.

She's a Beauty by The Tubes

Only You by Yaz

License to Ill by The Beastie Boys

Sting. Always. Everything. Off the top of my head... Shape of my Heart and Russians

Imagine the ever-popular "Under Construction" graphic here. This is by NO means a complete list, but it's a start. I'll be adding/eliminating/editing periodically, so don't get yourself too worked up. 1
