E-mail is used by a part of the academic community and a small number of
government departements and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). Few business
use the new technology, though demand is high.

It is nearly impossible for educators and researchers to collaborate with
colleagues around the world without e-mail. Many businesses and foreign
investors consider the absence of the Internet to be an obstacle to conducting
business in Albania.
