Why I? Volume II
by Grace Hollander

"Why I?" was Mrs. Hollander's first book, published at Israel's 25th anniversary. It is a collection of texts on Jewish Identity, Israel, Holocaust - and human interest. Now the second volume of her work has been completed, many of the works you can read on this site have not been printed in book format yet.

Both volumes create a picture of fifty years of living in Israel, from the very beginning in 1948. With humor, pathos, satire, lots of love Grace Hollander has us going through her very personal "looking glass". Writing in an easy, flowing, literate style thas is sometimes poetry and sometimes prose, she brings to pulsating life the maturing of the people of Israel.

At moments she is prophetic. in "Jerusalem II - 1976" she sees the Arabs thinking:

"We've got a thousand to your one
A thousand to your one
You haven't won
We've got a thousand to your one."

It is the hope of the author that you will enjoy your reading and browsing on the Why I? site. Mrs. Hollander is most anxious to read your comments, please write to her at yeshol@zahav.net.il
