GENERAL NOTES
[SPECIAL NOTE: If you are using these notes to interpret a chart that I did not prepare for you, some of the notes might not be appicable. For example, some charts do not give the north node's location so information pertaining to the north node would not be applicable.]
- Your chart shows only what can happen, not what will happen. But remember the negative path is easiest to follow (it's easier to steal something than to earn the money to buy it), so if you do nothing to prevent the negative, it will probably occur.
- Every negative quality has a hidden virtue and every virtue can become a negative quality. For example, arrogance hides confidence and ambition may become greed.
- You're never given a task beyond your ability or an obstacle you can't overcome.
- These are conditions at birth and many may have already changed.
- Planets in astrology are Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
- The chart proceeds in a counterclockwise direction beginning at the ascendant.
- The ascendant is the sign on the horizon at the moment of birth and is also called the rising sign. Aspects to the ascendant indicate temperament and character.
- Aspects to the midheaven indicate success/failure in the outer world, especially your career.
- 9. Energy from masculine signs is active and outgoing. Energy from feminine signs is receptive and turned inward. Anyone with far more signs in the "opposite sex" must learn to cope with that side of their nature before their true potential is realizable. The soul has no sex and is equally male and female.
- The more aspects you have, "good" or "bad", the more soul power you have to help you overcome adversity.
- Planets in angular houses (1st, 4th, 7th and 10th) are most powerful since they're active on a material level and play strongly on personal affairs and self.
- Planets in succeedant houses (2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th) deal with emotional nature and individual desires.
- Planets in cadent houses (3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th) deal with mental energies and equipment.
- Houses 1-6 are more under your control while houses 7-12 are more under the control of outside influences.
- An empty house indicates lack of serious problems, not lack of activity.
- A planet that is dignified or exalted and aspects to that planet are more powerful since the signs they're in allow easy flow of energy. A planet in detriment or fall requires more work for the same energy to flow.
- An aspect is the flow of energy between two planets. The closer an aspect is to exact (i.e. the closer the orb is to zero), the more powerful it is.
- A planet is afflicted if it has more "negative" aspects than "positive" ones and/or is in its sign of fall or detriment.
- Mutally receptive means each planet is in the sign ruled by the other, thus allowing the energy of both planets to work easier.
- If you have more planets in male than female signs, you tend to actively seek out situations for personal growth rather than take what life dishes out.
- The explanations of the aspects are written for generic use. You may find something not applicable to your chart (for example, if you're female and it says "In a male's chart..."). If so, ignore what follows to the end of the sentence.
- To read the Apects on the actual chart, look at the planet you want to check and then read down that column. Don't forget to check what's to the left of the planets symbol to find aspects with planets listed earlier. A dot indicates no aspect is made between the two planets in question.
