8 October 1525
As magistrate George Berger and his prisoner, George Blaurock, were passing through this village on their way from Hinwil to Gruningen, they came upon a gathering of Anabaptists preparing for an open-air service. Berger told the crowd that they should refrain from rebaptizing anyone or they would risk arrest. He recognized Conrad Grebel & Felix Manz among the crowd. It soon became clear that the Anabaptists were not heeding his warning. Realizing he was outnumbered, Berger rode to the nearby village of Ottikon to get help. From Ottikon, Berger sent several men who were able to arrest Conrad Grebel. Felix Manz, however, escaped the scene. Berger then proceeded to Grüningen with his prisoners, Blaurock & Grebel, in tow.
