Hallau

Switzerland

1525

February 1525
Wilhelm Reublin & Johannes Brotli baptized nearly the whole population of Hallau during this period.

April 1525
Wilhelm Reublin & Johannes Brotli were recognized as the Anabaptist ministers of Hallau. They did not share the pacifist tendencies of Conrad Grebel, however. When threatened with arrest, Reublin & Brotli were defended by a contingent of armed peasants. Most of the townspeople accepted rebaptism in the local church and supported the uprisings of the Black Forest peasants.
