- Balthasar Hubmaier sought refuge here. He soon converted Lutheran minister Oswald Glaidt and Lord Leonard of Liechtenstein to Anabaptism.

- Hans Hut arrived in town. He and Balthasar Hubmaier engaged in a debate in the city church that became known as the "Nikolsburg Disputation." This was followed by a private debate in the castle before Lord Leonard (who was an Anabaptist). Hubmaier was declared the "winner" of the debate and Lord Leonard threw Hans Hut in jail.
- 24 June 1527
- Balthasar Hubmaier wrote On the Sword, his final work. It was printed here by Simprecht Sorg (Froschauer) of Basel, who came to Nikolsburg with Hubmaier a year earlier.
