Canadian Society for Philosophical Practice

The CSPP is an association of Canadians interested in exploring and promoting the application of philosophy beyond the university; in a way, helping philosophy return to its grass roots origins, in a more public setting as it was practiced, for example, by Socrates of Athens. Philosophical practitioners and their supporters believe that philosophy should not be a narrow, specialized and obscure discipline accessible and of interest only to scholars. The generality inherent in the phrase "love of wisdom" (philo sophia) should instead mean that philosophy is concerned with the most basic human questions as we all deal with them in our lives: What is the good life for an individual? What sort of world do we want to build together? How do we judge the successes or failures of modern society? To CSPP has also a homepage.
