Now that I have been through all the lessons, I do not believe that viewing Lesson 3 near the end of the series was beneficial. The outline of the Research Proposal is an important part of the whole class and should have, in my opinion, been watched in the beginning. Despite the awkwardness of viewing the videos, though, Dr. Norman did a good job of always letting us know where we were in the outline. Also, the examples included in the Work Text were very good and will be very valuable to me as I wrap up my proposal.

My understanding of the Research Proposal is that counselors regularly use this format for proposing different types of research to be done. The types of research that are recommended depend largely on where the greatest needs and interests lie, and that is why the Literature Review is so important. The strict format is so that the proposal will satisfy certain research minimums, so that the research being proposed will be easily understood by those who read, so that the researcher will have a clear path to follow, and so that those who might fund such an effort will be fully able to understand what they are funding.

I have enjoyed this class, and I hope to use the principles for preparing Research Proposals often in my future endeavors.
