Yesterday, I saw the strangest thing;
A black girl listening to Mozart-Isn't that amazing?
A girl with hair of wool and skin of chocolate.
And yet, she knew that Mozart was the greatest.
Greatly astonished, I asked,"You know of this sensational composer?"
She said,"Why of course! He was certainly spectacular."
She then described his accomplishments in the utmost detail.
With every passing minute, my ivory skin changed to another color of the range.
At first it was green, for I was envious of her vast knowledge.
But then, it was yellow because I was afraid; I lacked courage.
Finally, it turned into red; this was a result of my rage.
"How dare she try to be like me?" I thought.
Weren't she and her people bought?
Brazen she was for trying to learn!
Prestige and honor she could never earn.
I'm better than this piece of trash.
In the old days, she would be given a lash.
