I Remember Well
I remember the age of three
chomping down on collard greens
BBQ rib bones, just for me
I remember well
I remember the age of four
running out the back screen door
banana pudding, I want more
I remember well
I remember the age of five
hands on hip
and talking jive
letting the world know…I'm alive
I remember well
I remember the age of six
walking to get that peach tree switch
sting so bad my butt would itch
I remember well
I remember days gone by
summer rain and fireflies
bump on tongue…you told a lie
I remember well
I remember momma may I
dark brown sweet potato mud pie
you didn’t win…it was a tie
I remember well
I remember mumblypeg
girl!… don't dare fix yo mouth to beg
last one in is a rotten egg
I remember well
I remember red light, green light
step over the line and we gone fight
doing the funky chicken…outtasight!!
I remember well
I remember double dutch
he said…she said…such and such
do you love me?…very much
I remember well
