The Faery Lineage

The primary folk of the Faery Wiccan tradition are the Tuatha De Danann. Today there are many ideas about the Faery. Within their kingdom we find remnants of a magickal race of beings not of this world. Much of the lore creates the image that the Faery is based on fantasy.

In orthodox religion, the Faery beings are regarded as evil, host of the Devil, fallen angels, etc.

The Faery-Faith is an ancestral tradition connected to the powers of the Underworld. Ancestral traditions contain the mysterious knowledge of communing with the Faery being through an avenue often known as the 2nd Sight. These traditions are also closely connected to the land and the lands environmental conditions, which explains why the nature of the Faery beings vary from land to land.

Tuatha De Danann- the people of the Goddess Dana or people of the god whose mother was Dana. Also known as the Sidhe, Spirit-race, or Feadh-Ree.

In the traditional history of Ireland, this was the race who inhabited Erin after conquering the Fir Bolgs and who in turn were dispossed by the Milesian and forced to go underground or in "lands beneath the waters."

Their country was the Tir na nOg(tyeer-nahn-ohgg), Land of Perpetual Youth, where they lived a life of joy and beauty never knowing disease or death. They were great masters of magick; a race who were said to have come from the stars to teach Earth's children about love and harmonious living. They became a Faery people, and many(both male and female) were great warriors who served under the Ard Righ(High King) whose palace was in Tara. Many became known as the Finian Heroes.

Whether imaginary or a race of immortal beings, the Tuatha De Danamm enriched the lives of the Celts, who wrote many a verse in praise of their magickal and Otherworldly attributes.

During the changing tide of spiritual and religious beliefs that the Tuatha De Danann began to drift farther and farther away from our realm of existence.

Fenian Heroes- the noble warriors of the Tuatha De Danann, who joined allegiance with the fiana(feen-a), the great fighting force of Ireland, and who were at their greatest when Finn mac Cumaill was their last and greatest leader.
